Zen4 was deliberately postponed to add CXL features as per forest norrod so without that active choice it would have been 18monthsZen+ is a misdirection. Zen 4 was late September 2022. The real average of Zen1->2->3->4 is about 22 months. In any case, the point is AMD never said anything about 2024H1 for Zen 5. The idea that it is postponed comes from people looking backwards or thinking optimistically.
If it is a larger change than any Zen since the Zen 1 it would have more time allotted for validation.
This was delayed intentionally for a number of reasons.Zen 4 was late September 2022
I was wondering what on earth on was thaflmao, when did this get added to the thread?

It’s usually for threads that are questions and the best answer is picked by the OP so that others can see the “solution”, but this thread is for general purpose discussion. Just almost trolling to see a “poor Intel” post be selected as the “answer” in a Zen 5 thread hahaI was wondering what on earth on was thaf
"An AMD rep just confirmed that Zen 5 is on track for the consumer market for the second half of this year."So mr infallible, who knows every possible detail about every architecture (whether it’s zen 7, M4, Elite X or Nova Lake) couldn’t even get the launch quarter right for a product that was supposed to come in less than 3 months?
I wonder what’s his excuse when the final perf uplift ends up closer to 20% than 40%
Strix was always Q3 anyway, X Elite remains too late to change the landscape, sorry. This is great news
It isn't news. Just the hype train derailing as usual. Now they're already disappointed because it's "late" & "delayed". Next they'll be sad it's only 23±2% 1T like AMD usually does. This is great news
Desktop will launch first as usual. So since Kepler is now also saying "originally H1" and Adroc isn't in a complete rage writing "April" over and over again we can now finally settle for H2 with Strix possibly launching as first ZEN5 Consumer Product?
Personally I'm Still not sure what to think about of it being delayed or always planned for H2. April didn't make a lot of sense after all for a number of reasons.
As Ryzen 8000 or 9000? I know this is a thing they can decide literally 1 Hour before launch event but is there a Rumor? Desktop launching as 9000 before Strix launches as 8000 would be really weird/bad from a marketing perspective.Desktop will launch first as usual.
Yeah, things shift and change. So mr infallible, who knows every possible detail about every architecture (whether it’s zen 7, M4, Elite X or Nova Lake) couldn’t even get the launch quarter right for a product that was supposed to come in less than 3 months?
More than either of that.wonder what’s his excuse when the final perf uplift ends up closer to 20% than 40%
Want !I made this effort some years ago... I should take it to work...

Quote your estimate for Turin socket perf bump for both 96c and 128c parts and then we'll talk.It isn't news. Just the hype train derailing as usual. Now they're already disappointed because it's "late" & "delayed". Next they'll be sad it's only 23±2% 1T like AMD usually does.
They literally decided the launch date during the conf call. What are you talking about? Things change and leaks are fluid... literally. As Ryzen 8000 or 9000? I know this is a thing they can decide literally 1 Hour before launch event but is there a Rumor? Desktop launching as 9000 before Strix launches as 8000 would be really weird/bad from a marketing perspective.
They didn't but all three relevant parts were H1 last November. They literally decided the launch date during the conf call
Since it's H2 it's pretty much guaranteed to be Ryzen 9000 for all Zen5 products. As Ryzen 8000 or 9000? I know this is a thing they can decide literally 1 Hour before launch event but is there a Rumor? Desktop launching as 9000 before Strix launches as 8000 would be really weird/bad from a marketing perspective.
