So it's all for 1T, so 9700X might have lower MT perf than 7700X because it clocks so low at 88W compared to 142W 7700X that the IPC is completely negated?Yes, that's called having no competition.
1T power is still up and you're probably gonna feel it.
None of the Z4 DT parts ever hit rated TDPs due to thermal limits.so 9700X might have lower MT perf than 7700X because it clocks so low at 88W compared to 142W 7700X that the IPC is completely negated?
All that performance for 5mm^2 moar die area? Sign me tf up broski.YIKES!
I know but down to 88W is still a big reduction if the Cores itself need a good bit moreNone of the Z4 DT parts ever hit rated TDPs due to thermal limits.
142w on the 8c Raphael is a joke.
No.I know but down to 88W is still a big reduction
The whole thing with v/f curves is that you don't have to ride the very top.if the Cores itself need a good bit more

AMD rode it very much for Z4.Unless you are Intel....
If those TDP numbers are true then it confirms that Zen 5 is excellent and AMD doesn't mind leaving a few percent of performance on the table to gain efficiency. Except for the 16 core that is the flagship anyway.
If we are hearing rumors correctly, the 9950x will be better in everything than the 7950x3d or 7800x3d in gaming. The cynic in me wonders if this will widen the gap between the 9700X and 9950X in games and that will push some gamers to go for the 9950X before the x3D parts launch in 6 months or so.
But what if we are not? How are we supposed to wait 3 more days to find out? :-DIf we are hearing rumors correctly, the 9950x will be better in everything than the 7950x3d or 7800x3d in gaming.

A year.before the x3D parts launch in 6 months or so.
A year.
Gotta wait a year.
Bingo. So the X3D parts are going to be a mid cycle refresh before Zen 6. I mean if there is no competition then there is no reason not to slow play it and get people to double dip but it does not make me happy.
So not CES for X3D?Bingo.
This year is new IP, next one is derivatives and midgen kickers.
Rinse, repeat.
no. CES is mobile stuff. So not CES for X3D?
Wow, that's another ZEN5 product that skipped, right? Pretty sure the rumor was X3D at CES2025 for last few months.no. CES is mobile stuff.
Hopium.Pretty sure the rumor was X3D at CES2025 for last few months.
ahh yes. My favourite Strix Halo from AMD.no. CES is mobile stuff.
no. CES is mobile stuff.
Hopium.
Zen4 V$ parts were only early because a comp response was necessary.
Competitive. Response.2023 CES had both mobile and X3D.
The answer should be pretty obvious. For gaming, especially tic-rate limited titles, Zen 4 X3D or Zen 5?
The answer should be pretty obvious.
It's just a way better core.Zen 5 is throughput monster so can see it being better late game Stellaris for example
