Shhh...that's not his fault. Microsoft didn't want anything between them and their love for their brand new gf forever Qualcomm who will nurse their baby Windows on ARM.
So what will be the corresponding excuse for X3D not being released in September?

So far I've seen nothing about what the September claim for X3D is based on. Unless something solid is presented, why not apply the ~3/4 months bump to it like turned out to be the case for Zen5 (April + 3/4 months = July/August, assuming that'll be it). That would put X3D at CES 2025.

It's just a rumor from a generally credible source. Take it for what it's worth. If you're looking for undeniable proof, like screenshots of his super secret emails with Lisa, you ain't getting it.

Why are we talking about Steel Nomad and RDNA? I thought this was a Zen 5 thread?
If this thread also covers APUs, like strix point, then there is gonna be some graphics discussion in relation to other APUs/SOCs/whatever you want to call fully integrated systems on a single chip. Graphics are an integral part of the Strix designs.

That answers what is the genesis of the subthread but still does not explain how relevant it is to this thread... RDNA 3.5 stuff should be discussed elsewhere.
Maybe key architectural details and maybe comparisons to other brands, but otherwise some APU discussion is still on topic IMO. I honestly don't know who you're even replying to.

If we're gonna start talking about the rules of this thread and what is and isn't off topic, shouldn't that be part of its own thread itself? Frankly I like reading all zen 5 discussion so long as its on topic. Overall SOC discussions on the CPU forums seem quite common in other branded threads.

edit: and I mean I am saying this as someone that made a zen 3 APUs thread. IDK if it really makes a difference breaking threads apart or not. The average quality and direction of discussion mostly seems the same and nobody wanted to bother making a zen 5 APU thread. And its not like we have seperate threads for intel integrated graphics or Apple graphics.

edit 2: also like, its 2024, all SOCs come with integrated graphics, and we already have a dedicated zen 5 architecture thread, so if SOC based discussions don't belong here then we need a new sub forum 😏

Is that official? I can only find a comment on reddit that says September.

But it makes sense to have both the X870 boards and some of the X3D parts out for the review numbers.
No, it's just an educated guess on my part. The "new" AM5 mobos (X870, X870E) are supposed to launch (read: retail availability) on September 30th, though. If the X3D chips are launched in September, why wouldn't AMD have them in the same launch event?

Isn’t AMD rumoured to be doing that for the 9700X to be beat the X3D model?

So what you say, AMD may also push watts.
I read that. AMD needs to have default 65w processors with a bios setting that allows a higher TDP of 105w or 120w for people who want maximum performance. I would rather my PC sip power than waste energy to win benchmark contests.
