Yeah, I just checked and all the models at BB now show 7/28 as the release date. Releasing on a Sunday, very strange move.
Most of US sunday duration is on monday in China and Japan.

Edit : On those two weeks they can build a btter inventory, that s not all to launch somethig, it should be available to more than the first customers that are the fastest at clicking.

I don't see the relevance. . .

It is launched at a given day and hour, it just happen that in the US this hour will fall on sunday while in China this will be likely on a monday, so that s not exactly a sunday launch for everyone, but anyway this debate is moot, what matter at the end is that reviews will have to wait for a full month starting from now.

I think AMD doesn't want people benching their laptops before desktop Zen 5 launch and making assumptions about the desktop CPU's performance. This seems like a bad sign. They are expecting a wave of not-so-hot headlines from the media so trying to minimize the impact of it as much as possible.

Just from how expensive the first wave laptops are... they aren't going to fly off the shelves. It almost has to be a review thing like Igor suggested.

I think if we went just few weeks back in time, most people would assume that the supposed delay is due to unsold stock of Ryzen 7000 series.
Once AMD releases 9000 series, nothing else will sell at anywhere near profitable price ... some would say back then.

Swings of predictions in this thread are on the next level 😆

We already know official AMD preview numbers. We never knew fixed launch date for Strix from AMD, just that it's in July. So technically there is no last minute delay, just wastly incorrect leaks

I guess it could swing in Zen4’s favour then, if Zen5 does not turn out to be as good as predicted by some earlier leaks. I.e. if Zen4 will have lower price, not be much slower, and already has bugs smoked out, it will be a good option.

I’m still holding out to that little glimmer of hope that what you wrote above is the actual cause though, but chances are looking ever slimmer.

Dates for shipping Zen 5 laptops were pushed back. That's hardly a leak lol.
Unless you think Bestbuy and Asus were just vastly incompetent and made a random date for the release of this hardware without collaborating with AMD at all, then ye it was delayed.
Maybe it doesn't have to do with AMD, but bestbuy instead, but the fact that there were rumors (by Goldenpig) of the strix launch date being pushed back before changes were even made on bestbuy's website makes this seem like this was a push made by, at the very least, OEMs, and not the retailers themselves.

To save everyone a click:

RAM speeds are supported at 6400 MT/s at 1:1.
Can go to 9000 MT/s at 1:2 with 2 DIMMs, 8000 MT/s should be doable for most mobos with 4 DIMMs.

PBO is turned off by default, so power is not pushed out of the box. If you turn on PBO (auto-overclocking), the power will be pushed and the processor will try to clock as high as it can within power and temperature limits (95C or whatever it is).

Regarding Cinebench:

CB23 from AT's review of the 14900KS for reference:
View attachment 102052
If we assume the 9950X (Engineering Sample) can do 41000 points in CB23 MT at 190W while the 7950X does 39300 points at 220W, that's a 24% improvement in perf/W in this particular workload.
Why are we comparing perf/watt without equalizing wattage? Doing so is unfair, IMO.
The 7950x, according to Actually Hardcore Overclocking, at 200 watts, scores 38.6K point, while at 175 watts, scores 38K points. Saying it scores 38K at 190 watts, and looking at a 9950x scoring 41.2K points at 190 watts, only gives us a 8% perf/watt uplift.

It's not the first time when shops put preorders up with their best guess shipping date based around when they are expecting delivery to their warehouse.

Same for manufacturers, they get parts to build stock with target release date months in advance, but AMD decides when products can launch and that's what matters.

We don't know why it's pushed back to last week of July but most certainly has nothing to do with performance at this stage and all to do with last minute firmware updates or logistics of launching globally at the same time.

Relax, this thread will entertain all of us that little longer 😅

If you concerned what WCCF said, there was a post by Hassan Mujtaba implied '9000 is very cool, power down':

and after this X post WCCF made article about ES 9950X just as previous post.

If what Hassan said is just refer to a low clocked ES cpu which capped at 190w, then it's an exaggeration and very disappoint, WCCF is as irrelevant as usual when comes to tech news.
