the 1% low increases are absolutely epic.

very important metric, stutters is the most annoying stuff even top specced pcs suffer from

but some graphs are messed, ratchet clank -20 fps 1% low?? also baldurs gate 3 loses -10%? lol
The good seems to outweigh the bad but overall really strange and mixed results. Gains for dual CCD Zen 5 dont necessarily apply to single CCD Zen 5, etc.

https://www.hardwareluxx.de/index.p...rsage-zen-5-mit-windows-11-24h2-getestet.html

Seems like they found a significant performance improvement with W11 24H2, though not quite like Hardware Unboxed.
That's a very enlightening review.

The results that caught my eye:

CP2077

Spiderman Miles Morales

Control

Anno 1800

Notice something in 9700X vs.9600X scores? What a difference extra 2C/4T makes in the minimum fps!

AMD really needs bigger CCDs. Who knows how much extra game smoothness they could get with 10 core CCD or even a 12 core CCD?

Why would I? Those were not run with the 2H24 update, and everyone here has already discussed them ad nauseum. You said you had synthetic results post-update.
Show me where I said that? I said that HWUB performed the 24H2 tests strictly on gaming because that is where Zen4 to Zen5 showed the least amount of improvement.

More cores in a CCD will cost you intra-CCD latency.

Also when Zen 5 goes down so does Zen 4, so no matter how "different" thes designs are they do seem to behave quite similar in gaming.

I would say they tested games only because that is where they saw very little improvement from Zen4 to Zen5. That has been the focus since the release of Zen5, the lack of a performance uplift in gaming. There was improvement in synthetic benchmarks. And while they may be "easy and quick to run", the 40 gaming benchmarks he did run were not. Neither were any of the other 4-5 videos they have posted on the topic. If it's so easy why don't you run them?
In response to me saying they should have run GB6 to see if scores improved after the update, you posted above.

Good grief man, read it again. It literally says Zen4 to Zen5 showed little to no improvement in gaming while synthetic benchmarks showed some improvement. How hard is that to comprehend? HWUB has been focused on the gaming aspect since the day 1 launch. It's pretty easy to understand.

Speculation around Zen 5, the next-generation AMD architecture, suggests it will include EPYC Turin for data centers and Strix Point/Granite Ridge for Ryzen 9000 series processors. These upcoming chips are expected to deliver significant performance improvements, with EPYC Turin focusing on enhanced efficiency and scalability for servers, while Strix Point and Granite Ridge aim to boost performance and power efficiency for consumer desktops.
Thanks for the news, really good to know.

We do not allow members to bait others by calling them ignorant. There are better ways to get your point across.

Good grief? Look at what you replied to and maybe read it before you respond. YOU RESPONDED TO A POST TALKING ABOUT RUNNING BENCHMARKS COMPARING ZEN 5 TO ITSELF PRE VS. POST 2H24, NOT ZEN 4 VS ZEN 5 UPLIFT. Im not responsible for deciphering that you were ignorantly referring to useless Zen 4 vs Zen 5 benchmarks that have zero relevance to what I was talking about in the post you responded to.

Its pretty easy to understand that you were and possibly still are completely oblivious to what you responded to and your ugly initial and continued responses are adding nothing to the conversation in this thread.

It appears that these updates are possibly fixing an issue present in some systems that is not present in other systems, even though they may be running an older version of Windows. So now you have multiple angles of what is causing the uplift and/or the slowdown (depending on your viewpoint). Whats unclear still is, what is the problem and what is the fix? So far:

1.) Windows 11 "Super" Admin - helps fps, but not wise to do
2.) Disable VBS - helps fps, but not wise to do.
3.)Windows 11 2H24 update: Helps fps for some systems, does nothing for others, some games may see regressions.
4.)Windows 11 2H23 branch prediction update KB5041587 : Still waiting on results?

speeds up games, but not other APPS, not systems is the way I read it. Exactly what we need. Games was the only weak area of speedup for Zen 5 that I know of.
