No, it's not a tablet part. Here comes the competitor of Intel's Lunar Lake, AMD's Kraken Point specificly U -series of Kraken Point.
Clocks.but what about IGP?
That would mean ~40% higher clock just to be on par with PHX based on 780M(12CU) vs 760M(8CU) in TimeSpy.Clocks.
Does Phoenix actually hit those clocks in games? Maybe it's say 3.5GHz, minor SALU improvements and more typically at boost clock. Would be good enough. That would mean ~40% higher clock just to be on par with PHX based on 780M(12CU) vs 760M(8CU) in TimeSpy.
It translates to max boost of 3.8-3.9GHz and that's ridiculously high in my opinion.
It does. I regularly see Z1 Extreme hitting 2.7GHz on my ROG Ally, albeit at high power budget.Does Phoenix actually hit those clocks in games?
Maybe some improved dual-issue capabilities? VOPD has a lot of restrictions in RDNA3 iirc. That would mean ~40% higher clock just to be on par with PHX based on 780M(12CU) vs 760M(8CU) in TimeSpy.

That's why I wrote max boost.Does Phoenix actually hit those clocks in games? Maybe it's say 3.5GHz, minor SALU improvements and more typically at boost clock. Would be good enough.
That's not how scaling quite works but I digress. That would mean ~40% higher clock just to be on par with PHX based on 780M(12CU) vs 760M(8CU) in TimeSpy.
Ugh. No?tbh it all sounds like Vega in Raven Ridge all over again.
Thought we were talking about Kraken Point, no?That's not how scaling quite works but I digress.
Ugh. No?
Strix is 8WGP. lol.
-halo is 20 (twenty).
But that's a literal poverty part (relatively).Thought we were talking about Kraken Point, no?
Is STX1 supposed to be a direct PHX successor? Or a more premium option? But that's a literal poverty part (relatively).
Less WGP is expected.
Raven to Renoir was the same cost/perf tier.
Yes.Is STX1 supposed to be a direct PHX successor?
Also yes.Or a more premium option?
I don't know, what is your definition of many but a few months (about 3) is hardly many.Zen 5 is still many months from release, after all.
Feels like we'll have full stack with Zen 5 in 2025:
12C (4+8) Strix, binned to 10-12 cores + 12-16 CUs
8C (4+4) Kraken, binned to 6-8 cores + 6-8 CUs
4C (0+4) Sonoma, binned to 2-4 cores + ??? CUs (My guess is 4)
MLIDs leaked slide shows that Phoenix and Rembrandt sre still there in 2025 (so, 9040 and 9030 series), probably as a cheaper gaming option, since they have 12 CUs, and can still compete with intel's
If AMD decided it didn't make sense for Zen 4, and with so little changing besides the CPU core, I don't see why they would change their mind.So with Zen 5 is it pretty certain that the 16c version will not get 3d cache for both dies?
It's not the full stack, Zen5 starts in >$999 laptops.I think the full stack (from Fire Range and Strix Halo down to Sonoma) being refreshed
Sorry, I thought it was clear enough that I was talking about 2025 and not just 2024, (and also that I was including the Zen 5c core). Do Kraken Point and Sonoma not exist, or are they not coming with Zen 5 or Zen 5c cores? It's not the full stack, Zen5 starts in >$999 laptops.
Sonoma isn't 2025 and KRK is for >$999 laptops.Do Kraken Point and Sonoma not exist, or are they not coming with Zen 5 or Zen 5c cores?
I don't think they ever had the financials to support such a large palette of designs. Was there another time that they made so complete a mobile stack with this many designs in such a short time that they could all have the latest core?
Yeah, or at least the combo of Zen5+Zen5c cores. Shows that the Zen5 core alone will not achieve all goals, whether it’s e.g. price, perf/watt, and/or max MT perf within TDP, that is better with Zen5c which makes them use that core on laptop too.I think the full stack (from Fire Range and Strix Halo down to Sonoma) being refreshed with Zen 5 cores shows confidence in the Zen 5 core and its ability to appeal to OEMs and consumers.
Most markets are too poor for all-Z5.Shows that the Zen5 core alone will not achieve all goals
It. Is. Not. Happening. If it turns out to be good, there’s a chance Zen5c will show up on DT CPUs too.
It is happening...in 2 years plus..It. Is. Not. Happening.
You're not getting a single additional core from AMD.
It is happening...in 2 years plus..
You are getting 32 big cores from AMD. And no they still won't cost $999 like you said for Zen5
No.It is happening...in 2 years plus..
Yeah when the next threadripper drops. You are getting 32 big cores from AMD
Want to bet? I am betting by Q42026/Q12027, AMD will announce new AM6 platform with 32-core Zen7 (or whatever name) as flagship CPU and 16-core version will drop to current 8-core pricing....And I bet you will change tone when Intel announce NovaLake-S comes with 16P+32E like you did on RDNA4No.
Yeah when the next threadripper drops.
I never do that since I tend to win too much.Want to bet?
Who's gonna pay for all that Si area on N2p?I am betting by Q42026/Q12027, AMD will announce new AM6 platform with 32-core Zen7
?like you did on RDNA4
Zen 5 won't cost $1000. Just MHO.Want to bet? I am betting by Q42026/Q12027, AMD will announce new AM6 platform with 32-core Zen7 (or whatever name) as flagship CPU and 16-core version will drop to current 8-core pricing....And I bet you will change tone when Intel announce NovaLake-S comes with 16P+32E like you did on RDNA4
And why do you remove my price prediction or you already believe Zen5 won't cost $999?
