Me too. So the numbers from AMD event (42k stock, 44k PBO, 45.5K Curve Shaper) could be true. But this still is like the best ES ever.
Think it only comes down to that those two amd guys arent really good tuners. They simply have bad efficiency/optimizations on all their runs compared to "real overclockers" (that video is only for showcase and PR afterall)
We went throught the same with Zen4(TR) before release, where they showed LN2 runs and "xtreme OC", only to get smashed by prettymuch everyone on hwbot (even those with much worse cooling)

But that stock 42k i can believe, its only their PBO/PBO CS numbers i dont have too much faith in..
And who's to say AMD didnt change their "TDP formula" for this release ?
"170w TDP" could very well mean a 200w PPT limit this time around

Remember TDP for cpus is a made up number

I wonder how many seconds it can operate like this before it dies?

This screenshot that is beeing spammed on wccftech is incorrect:
At 13:24 in the GamersNexus video the guy said hes running 5ghz all core at 1.35V (but he could run it at 1.1V at the current temp of -69C(nice) with a score of 43375 and he said i quote:
"This is what you could call mission mode STOCK mode"

At very low temp mosfets transistors conduction is lower than at ambiant, so with such low temps you cant reach clocks as high as when the silicon is at say 30°C and at a same voltage.

As temp increase the mosfets conduct better up to a given temp at wich their conduction decrease again, that could explain the relatively low score, for the time i keep on my estimation of 46k points at 230W PPT that i made before Igor made a run at this power.

Not that it matters much, but in the ES 200w PPT screenshot you can see the cpu running ~5.1ghz @ ~1.080v
*edit*
Didnt hassan post on X about a stock 9950X using 19x watt running cooler awhile back ? (before all these ES leaks from this forum)
Think i saw it earlier today but cant find now

That's indeed what it draws.
Seems thermally-limited which is kinda funny.
Which could very well mean "170w TDP" could mean a 200w PPT limit this time around
And who's to say AMD didnt change their "TDP formula" for this release ?

Yeah, also the leaked numbers from the AMD event were 42k stock and 44k PBO. No way this ES does 46k. Something is off.
That’s like 10% higher than the results we’ll be seeing on the 31st.

I’m guessing the extreme cooling is enabling it to run 2 speed bins higher than it would in a typical system.

I was talking about some people who argue and post this screenshot as proof for "who knows what" or simply to mislead "normies" and then the "normies" or people who dont have time to follow this take this 41.9k pts number as real "stock" and ITS clearly not.
Even you quoted this "42k" score
And the guy from post above me also quoted this score.

190-ish.
The PPT is 230W but current/thermal limits are hit first.
Very mobile-driven approach but makes sense.
890M with its four extra CU cores should beat that 3050 then. At 40W of course. That's really quite impressive.
Yeah.
Unlike RMB/PHX (whoever said that meme should stop), STX1 is actually bandwidth-limited.
This thing was intended to have SLC, after all.

@igor_kavinski

The 230W, 253W, and Unlimited PPT runs are all effectively the same (peak PPT observed never exceeds 230W). The scores decrease slightly as I continue to increase from 230W to unlimited. This is because my small room is heating up from testing and the air cooler definitely hits the 95C throttle point during the runs at 230W and above.

What kind of air cooler do you run? I was just told by a few geniuses that you cant use an air cooler on a 7950X at full 230W PPT.

120W:

160W:

Also, if someone knows how to fix this scaling issue with fonts and buttons in CB23/CB24, I'd be very glad to know how to do it (i have to basically tab between button to launch benchmark, mouse doesn't work in CB window for some reason)

PS: Ah yes, forgot to say that I couldn't do 40W PPT, for some reason my system refuses to boot with 40W / 40A /40A limits, it just hangs up with 00 postcode after initialization (very weird)

Strange conclusion..

This is my noctua air cooled 7950x i have in my living room.
L3 idle temp is pretty much the room temperature even with silent air cooler

And while i'm at it, a r23 MT run

Core temperature can’t lower than ambient temperature. All ways higher. You can see at 40w load core temperature still 21c, but yours is 38c.

And what is your room temperature?
