If you have no idea and "don't care", why did you make such a rude reply to my post?

Your quote was a little poorly worded, and made it seem the high SP GDDR5 part that would take over the market was the consoles, not early rumours about Kaveri. In that context, saying we all know how that turned out does seem like it might be a joke, as the PS4 did take over the market.

16 CU Bristol Ridge would be a little weird. Maybe no more strange than the current crop of APUs in the PS4 and Xbone, but still . . .

eh who am I kidding, I'd probably get one!

Seems pretty clear to me. I specifically referred to Kaveri, and that is a pc part.

i guess it's not at all possible that while people were thinking it was kaveri that was being referred to, it was really the PS4 processor. no, that couldn't possibly be the case.

Well, we heard the same expectations when Kaveri came out around the time of the consoles. A projected 1024 shader part with GDDR5 that was going to take over the gaming market. We all know how that turned out.

Perhaps this will materialize, but I have not seen any official statement from AMD that consumer APUs will have HBM. I think it will happen eventually, but it could be much longer than some are predicting here. I mean, HBM is so supply constrained right now that dgpu makers are looking GDDR5x or whatever it is called as an alternative to HBM.

link? and to someone credible, not some random forum poster.

AMD plans release of Polaris GPUs, Zen CPUs to boost sales in 2H16.

AMD has a chance to see a strong rebound in sales in the second half of 2016 thanks to the release of its Polaris-based GPUs in the third quarter and Zen-series x86 CPUs in the fourth, according to sources from the upstream supply chain....................

..................However, with AMD's upcoming next-generation CPUs and GPUs having received positive feedback from partners, the sources expect the new products to have a positive influence on the company's operations.

Just wait for the bloody benchmarks, people. If you've got nothing useful to say (useful being, e.g., what Dresden does), perhaps shut up. The negativity is useless and makes people suspect you're an Intel shill.

I dont expect ZEN to contribute any significant revenue in Q4 2016. But those new Semi-Custom orders in 2H 2016 could.

The real metric will be 2017, when ZEN Server SKUs will start to be available and ZEN APUs.

Never did understand why differing points of view make some people so upset. Seems like one should be able to post whatever he wants as long as the mods dont say otherwise.

Depend when it launches, i expect around october 15, so they could get some big orders even if the CPU is not widely available in stores, deliveries and availabilities are not simultaneous, moreover if the chip is used in OEMs PCs, in that case they would get the first batches.

That is some serious wishful thinking there... or did you mean October 15, 2017? Because I bet that date will end up being much closer to reality.

I think that AMD's strategy this time with Zen is to don't get up the hype like was did with Bulldozer, independent on how Zen will perform at the end. Around Polaris launch we will get the first Zen PR, still without major technical details. If something has had delaying Zen launch, it would be 14LPP yields at GF, a thing that would be very unlikely for me.

You might enter wrong thread, this thread is for AMD Zen but not Intel Kabylake which is likely 2017 product.
