Thread to focus on Zen4 3D cache CPUs.

New gaming king (as most expected), though the 2 CCD 7950x3d does seem to have issues with some games, more than I would expect of it getting stuck on the "wrong" CCD. I imagine it will get cleared up with subsequent updates but we'll see. Simulated 7800X3D showed no such issues and overall has the gaming lead (real product might be slightly slower though depending on in game clocks).

Computerbase also has the 7950x3d as the gaming champ. They (and TPU) also show that efficiency while gaming is extremely good.

Just to toot my own horn a little, it landed spot on with my prediction of fastest gaming CPU but not significantly so over a 13900k on average, but with much higher efficiency.

Additional reviews, will add more later.

While I've seen a few people go on about Spiderman:remastered and how it uses the e-cores to precompile shaders etc, doing so comes at a significant energy cost. The 7950X3d manages to perform very well for around 85 watts with the 13900ks pulling around 200 watts in comparison. That's 40% of the power usage. THAT is a significant difference.

So there is a clear consensus that except for a few instances, a single-CCD X3D CPU, i.e. 7800X3D, will be much better for gaming than a dual-CCD CPU with only one CCD having v-Cache.

So why then does the 7900X3D and 7950X3D exist in the first place?

Precompiling shaders is supposed to happen only once, unless you change the GPU driver. Power consumption during precompiling shaders is a non-issue.

The top clocks speeds are bit disappointing. Compared to vanilla 7950x graph i mean.
I was bit excited yesterday, but not so sure now. Would love to see more in-depth review concerning tuning, if something can be done about this. Otherwise i will probably stick to that 7950x, since i care more about productivity performance.

It's basically the best desktop CPU by a long shot now. Versus 13900KS, gaming is faster, app performance is the same (more or less) and power efficiency is better by a factor of 2x! Insane perf/watt, I wonder if MTL-S can match this level of efficiency. Job well done AMD!
Meteor Lake doesn't target the consumer desktop market.

7800X3D should be set up for lower boost than 7900X3D/7950X3D cache CCD, so if the results of the 7800X3D are simulated using the 7950X3D there may be some inaccuracy even if it's unlikely the CPU will hit max boost except some edge cases. In any case, 7900/7950X3D behaviour will likely improve in time when newer releases of the drivers will come out, and if someone does also productivity tasks they guarantee higher performance in that regard.
