Thread to focus on Zen4 3D cache CPUs.

New gaming king (as most expected), though the 2 CCD 7950x3d does seem to have issues with some games, more than I would expect of it getting stuck on the "wrong" CCD. I imagine it will get cleared up with subsequent updates but we'll see. Simulated 7800X3D showed no such issues and overall has the gaming lead (real product might be slightly slower though depending on in game clocks).

Computerbase also has the 7950x3d as the gaming champ. They (and TPU) also show that efficiency while gaming is extremely good.

Just to toot my own horn a little, it landed spot on with my prediction of fastest gaming CPU but not significantly so over a 13900k on average, but with much higher efficiency.

Additional reviews, will add more later.

13900K and KS still have the best single core performance. They still lead in some applications as Excel.

Multithread and gaming performance is comparable between the two manufacturers.

Intel suffers in mid- to multi-thread power efficiency.

I appreciate the trouble toms went to in showing stanrdard, expo mem and pbo. Also they did the flight sim people asked for.

Same. Their cons list is a stretch, but the review itself seems very solid imo. I appreciate that they went out of their way to test more games and came back with some simple results.

When the caches is in play, it's a huge factor. When it isn't, it's basically on par with 13900K.

Obviously lower power consumption and the high likelihood of a drop in CPU for a generational update in 2-4 years without digging into the guts of the PC and it should have great staying power in terms of value.

Everyone looking for a awesome gaming CPU for now and years too come can leave the fence. The best value and the best performance is likely still a couple months away, but I am glad I have my 5800X3D. Those graphs confirmed it's fine

Tomshardware and Techpowerup do not agree with your slide.

and Intel is crushing AMD in Outlook!

It's not my slide, it's Anandtech's.

It probably comes down to power consumption as the results between the 3 sites aren't much different if you remove the overclocked results at Tom's. Even if we take your numbers, the main point is that no one will be buying a 13900k over a 7950x3d to be ~4% faster in Excel (while burning tons more power).

Actually Office applications are some of the (few) applications in which Intel may be very (or at least satisfactorily) efficient.

Unsurprisingly to most who viewed the prior reviews with actually open eyes, test sites like Tom's where they use officially supported memory only at stock show the biggest improvements for the 7950x3d over the 7950x. Now, comparing stock results between RPL and Zen4-3D, the Raptorlake systems are at a disadvantage due to their slow memory whereas the 3d cache chips aren't effected by memory very much. For those who supported only officially supported memory speeds as being the "proper" way of testing, the Zen4-3D cache chips should be an even more obvious choice as Tom's shows the 7950x3d as being 13% faster on average under these conditions compared to the 13900k.

7950X3D seems to be the best CPU to buy right now. Effectively ties 13900k in gaming/productivity, crushes it in efficiency. A bit disappointed in the lack of gaming performance gains over vanilla zen 4, but the efficiency was way better than what I thought it was going to be, especially in gaming workloads.

You can use PBO to force it to use more power if you need better app performance. Or even maybe fine tune it with curve optimizer. The efficiency is out of this world.
You can use PBO to force it to use more power ... and to significantly worsen the efficiency in the same time!
