For the price it's a good deal. That's about $250 cheaper than the next cheapest HDTV in that class (Samsung). It's not super-highend, but considering it's cheaper than some analog flat screen sony's and panny's it's pretty warm deal. I saw it the other day at Circuit CIty and it was sandwiched between the Samsung 27" HDTV, the 27" Sony flat screen SDTV, and it was directly above a Panasonic Tau 27" SDTV. Picture quality was identical to the samsung and much better than the Sony and Panny. No scan lines at all line the SDTV's.

I've never been a big fan of Zenith, Magnavox, Philips, etc, but for the price I couldn't pass it up.

Don't forget to add Goldstar to your list, as that is what you actually ended up with if you bought the Zenith.

I'm seriously thinking about this TV since it has a VGA input. However it only accepts a limited number of resolutions, so you'll probably need an ATI video card to get the interlaced video modes. Check out the discussion at avsforum.com - display devices - direct view - 27 HDTV recommendations thread for a lot of info on the unit.

Well...I would think that any HDTV would be 16x9, not 4x3 as HDTV is in the 16x9 format. Kind of defeats the purpose!

Go to Circuit City or Best buy. There are tons of 4:3 HDTV monitors.

Zenith is owned by LG electronics. The other day I called them and was given LG tech support. LG in general makes good quality stuff. Their cell phones are some of the best. DVD burners are good too.

Their TV's are near the bottom suckers though. Very poor build quality and design.
It's still better than when Zenith built them.
But, in the same class as RCA/GE/Funia/Emerson/Sylvania/Apex, and all the other disposable brands.
Fixing TV's is what I've been doing for 20 years, so take this from an expert.
avsforum.com is a decent place for hookup and initial quality advice, but many there even recommend RCA regularly,
so that should speak for itself.

A TV is the most complicated piece of electronics you can get. Much more sophisticated than a PC or cell phone.
As such, the TV or Monitor should be the thing you invest the most time and money in, if you want lasting quality.

I had this TV for about 6 months and it was very nice. It does have VGA but only runs at 640x480, but still looks great
