Zenyatta vs. Rachel Alexandra???

Zenyatta just etched her name in horse racing history winning the Breeder's Cup Classic in one of the most loaded fields in the history of the race.

Great race!!!!!

Wouldn't mind seeing a heads-up race with Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra a la Seabiscuit & War Admiral.

But maybe they can end up meeting in another race???

Since they both appear to have magical stamina & speed I honestly can't imagine who would win a race with both of them in it.

Zenyatta easily. Undefeated and just beat the best horses in the world. No contest for horse of the year. The point for Alexandra can't be made.

If Alexandra is so great then why not run her in the classic?

I may be a bit biased after being right on the rail for the Woodward, but Rachel! If the Breeders Cup was run on real dirt, we probably would have seen her, but no way was Jess Jackson going to risk her on plastic after what happened last year with Curlin.

Sea the Stars would be looking at horseshoes in the Kentucky, Belmont and Breeder's Cup. Only potential for him would be at the Preakness & I think that would be a great race with all 3 horses, but Sea the Stars still ain't up for the girls, sorry.

Is the Breeders Cup Classic the only race that counts or something? Curlin came up 4th last year in the classic and still won HOY. And running on plastic is a big reason why some of the big names didn't show up at Santa Anita.

Rachel took on the boys before Zenyatta. She proved herself against the boys pretty handily in both races. Her dirt speeds match some of the best. She did it from the front which is pretty darn amazing with all the late running nowadays. I'd give it to her but she did back off from racing the full season. Yes polytrack could've put a dent in her career but it also could've put her in the annuls of history. Its horse racing for a reason and sometimes you go to a track and give it a gamble like they did with Curlin.

Zenyatta only proved herself against females...until today. Today she showed she was just as game against a pretty stacked field. Her move down the stretch was one to rival some of the greats - but was that more the horse or the jockey? Its still only 1 race against the boys though. A undefeated champion is great but doing it against real competition is more impressive.

They both provided some great racing this year and i say split the honors. That way it kinda forces the owners to come back next year with both of em for one last race...

Of course not. But the triple crown races and the classic are some seriously big purses even for place show or even fourth. If the horse has it then run him (her). The euro horses had a really good result at breeders overall.

But look at the names in this years classic, all top notch mounts. Best of the best. Hardly anbody under 100 beyer speed. And she beat them. On paper I didn't think she could win, she was in none of my bets. But she proved it today. Easily horse of the year, easy.
