I don't believe that for a second.

Checking accounts certainly are. What kind of margins do you think thery're earning on free cheking accounts that typically have minimal balances and require CSRs and tellers to be staffed, not to mention statement mailings, web development, compliance managers etc. etc. etc.

That's why they have such outrageous fees, it's the only way they can cover their costs.
