zip drive & win2k

I have been trying to get the Zip100 ATAPI drive to work in Win2k but it either:

1. Stops have way thru the blue bar on the startup screen
2. Reboots itself after getting in Win2k but before it loads everything in the startup folder.

I dual boot between WinMe and Win2, and it works fine in WindowsMe. Please help! Especially if you have a similar harware/software config, please tell me your settings. TIA!!!

Where in the IDE chain are you trying to attach your ZIP?

Oops... It is a slave on the onboard channel 0. Please refer to original post for details. I have subsequently found a STUPID little work around. I guess it was trying to boot off the zip drive. I found this on the iomega web site but it is listed only under Windows NT 4.0 not 2000.

For some reason Win2k looks at all IDE channels in order and mounts the drives available. Since my boot drive is on the Promise controller which comes after the onboard controller, Win2k stalls trying relentlessly to mount the drive. Of course this fails unless I have a disk in the drive. Argh!

If someone knows a better way, please share it. Microsoft has no solution to this problem.

In your bios, do you have your boot sequence set to begin with SCSI?
