The links to the coupons on Iomega's site will not open for me, the pdf files are bad. Anyone else having this problem?

hhhhhhhorrrrraayyyyyyy, i just did my price proctection at my local queens compusa, casue i had bought it 2 days early, i went to the cs and said i need price protection and the iomega cost now 99.99, she looked at the paper and bammmmm she charged me 99.99, lol not 129.99, but 99.99.

Brduha its not incompetence that people didnt get the deals. Not everyone like you knew that the deal was going to occur before hand. Also not everyone bought multiple drives and are selling it for profit. I bet 80% of the drives were bought out prior to the sale even occuring. When I was there getting the pricematch I heard people bitching about no stocks and bait and switch tatics.

This is about the time we 'separate the men from the boys'. If a person is happy languishing about in their present lifestyle, then good for them. Some people like to strive to make things better, and you shouldn't knock them for attempting it. It's not like winning the lottery or getting a free inheritance - most things take hard work and persistence.

Like I've stated previously, this deal was spelled out almost step-by-step on Saturday. There was absolutely nothing to lose in following the agenda. Some took advantage of it and some decided to sit idly by for whatever reason.

For those who paid attention and understood the mechanics of maximizing the deal more power to them. I only have admiration for those who take chances in life!

I think everyone would have to agree the prices the egay people are getting for these things are still far and away a better deal than what Compusa and Bestbuy were asking just a couple days ago - $249!!

I wish there was some way to ban people who bought and sold drives for profit from ever visiting this forum again. Its just sickening how people will sell out those that helped them. This would have been a great deal for everyone who visits this forum, and instead turned into a profit venture for a few obnoxious and unsavoury individuals. It makes me want to never post a deal on these forums again. Well, as I've said all along, no good deed goes unpunished...another prime example of that.

For those 'saintly' people questioning the virtues of others who took advantage of this fabulous deal, could you please explain to all of us what your exact intentions were with purchasing this drive in the first place?

I don't want to hear anything about:

1. I'm gonna burn .mp3 files that I've freely downloaded from the internet.
2. I'm gonna burn sleazy .jpg files that I've absconded from questionable newsgroups.
3. I'm gonna make 'backup' copies of 'friends' music cds.
4. I'm gonna make 'backup' copies of 'friends' application software.
5. I'm gonna make 'backup' copies of 'friends' game software.
6. I'm gonna make 'backup' copies of 'friends' playstation cds.
7. etc., etc.

So then why is it again that you really NEEDED this drive?

And I really don't want to hear any questions about if it is CloneCD compatible or not.

I ordered my drive on 12/31 using the website. For the past two days the status read "Processing". Now about 20 minutes ago it changed to "Back Ordered". Does this mean I'm SOL? How is CompUSA with filling backorders? Please if anyone has experience with them and back orders let me know. I really want this drive!

Brudha, NEWSFLASH - of COURSE that's what everyone who got one of these (myself included) intends to do with it. And YES its completely immoral, societally speaking. And YES, twits like you messed it up for a whole bunch of people in order to turn a buck. Even among theives there are codes of ethics...like if someone gives you a tip you don't turn around and stab him in the back for it. And you help your friends. Last time when we had the Imation deal lots of guys here were buying drives for others on the forum who could not make it, and selling to them at cost. I guess that I'm just sad that the comraderie that used to exist has been replaced with people like you.

If it helps you to feel better about yourself by rationalizing screwing the people who helped you out in the first place for a profit that's fine. Your just-rewards will be people getting fed up and not posting deals here anymore.

Well I guess there are always going to be dirtbags and losers who will screw their friends to pad their pockets. No point getting upset about it. I just hope all those egay'ers get stuck with their drives and take a loss. I'd eat human excrement before buying from someone like that.

Hey snitchface, why don't you preview some of the prior posts during Saturday to determine who was actually trying to help out other Anandtechers on how to best approach this for greatest savings on this deal. The intelligent ones never even bothered with Compusa on this deal. Most doubting-thomases disregarded the instructions and chose to be at the mercy of Compusa's rules. I, and others offered a way to guarantee people would at least get one at the best price.

I don't recall you lending any credible advice for anyone. Where were you during this time - sitting on your hands in the back watching the show?
