Zipzoomfly stealing Newegg's photos

I didn't know where to post this. Since I was looking at monitors at Zipzoomfly, I thought it would be appropriate if I posted in the video forum. Anyway, is it just me, or has Zipzoomfly been using some of Newegg's product photos? Today I noticed Zipzoomfly finally started selling Sony LCD's, and if you look at the Sony SDM-S74's, 94's, and the SDM-S204B, they're the exact same product photos as Newegg, just scaled down a bit. I've been looking at these monitors' prices fall at Newegg for some time now, so I've gotten use to the pics. I thought that's kind of lame on Zipzoomfly's part.

they are probably photos supplied with the product from the manufacturer.

God you guys are so funny. You're so clever and original, too. Newegg takes their own pictures of the products they sell, at least that's what their reps told me. I thought most people knew that. BTW, Zipzoomfly's pic's are actually the same size and everything. If you don't believe me, go online and compare or call Newegg.

ok, so I looked up the first monitor I found, and the same pic is present on all three sites. I doubt newegg took this picture. Doubting you is a non-issue, we simply wanted better proof because it is an amusing accusation.

If you had read my first post, you'd know I was talking about the Sony SDM-S74's, the 94's, and the SDM-S204B. Why are you posting pictures of Viewsonic LCD's Sherlock? One other thing, when I said Newegg takes its own photos, I meant the actual real photos of products and not the stock images right off a manufacturer's web site. No, they don't take photos of every single thing they sell. However, of the items they do photograph, they actually photograph them instead of jacking them from someone else's site.

no need to get upset. you made a blanket statement about newegg pics, which was inaccurate. They show mfgr pics just as zip does. now how do you differentiate which are mfgr pics and which aren't?

Ever think that Newegg is stealing Zip's images? I find it interesting that someone would automatically assume that is their was any stealing going on, Negegg would be the good guy.

Anyway, this whole thing seems pretty pointless. Most of those images very likely come right from the manufacturer.

As I stated, Zipzoomfly didn't even carry the Sony LCD's I mentioned until earlier this week whereas Newegg has had them since they were first released (this past summer). I'm not upset, but jeez. Here's an actual photo from Newegg. Here's a stock photo from the manufacturer's site (give it a second to load). That's how I (and I think most people) would differentiate between the two. And if it's so pointless, then why are you posting on this topic?

Did you notice that the rear panel's picture on each site is different? Seems like ZZF & NE may be using the same set pictures, but have chosen to use a couple of common pics and a couple different pics.

Woop de doo, so what? Perhaps the manufacturer may have sent the exact same picture to use for advertising to both stores? Let alone they could have sent the same ITEM. It's not as though ZZF or Newegg are stealing from each other...

I agree. I am outraged. I just sent an email to Sony notifying them that newegg is stealing zipzoomfly's pictures! :Q

Seriously. years ago I worked at a job where I helped producing catalogs and ads, and later some web material for several major retailers. ALL the product photos and graphics originally came from the manufacturer or distributor. I can promise you that 99.9% of the time newegg or any other retailer has not 'taken" product picture themselves.

Actually they do. My neighbor works at newegg, he told me how newegg takes their own pictures. But I cannot confirm if all their picture are taken by newegg themselves, and didn't come from the manufacturer. But by looking at the pictures, you can pretty much tell that they are not manufacturer pictures. Heck there has been reports of newegg forgetting to take out the CDKEY that are bundled with some products.
A manufacturer would not make that mistake.
