My plan is keep attack, limit their population, if you run way they will get you one day.
How? Team up with others, find a group of zombies, get into a dump truck and run them over. No truck? lure them into a gym, lock them up and burn them to hell. There must be something you can use around you. Clean up the town, get some supply from walmart moving to the next town and start again.

Dump truck is a choice vehicle for sure: naturally armored, rugged, lots of torque, storage capacity. But be mindful of its downsides also: slow acceleration, open back, limited to mostly flat terrain, uses lots of fuel.

As far as groups go, keep in mind that the larger the group, the slower you'll be. Sure you have a better chance of defending yourself, but a group of 20, 50, or even 100 guys are no more effective than 5 when dealing with a completely overrun city of one million zombies. Also, the larger the group, the more supplies - food, water, fuel, ammo - you'll need.

The biggest problem with the spreading of zombietosis are weak-minded weak-stomached people. Grandma and Bobby junior will get you bit and cornered for zombie buffet faster than anything. But the sheeple will do it anyways. And so it keeps spreading. The 5-10 man survival group is about as large as you want to grow, and absolutely do not take on helpless weak people. Women are ok so long as they pull their weight and aren't afraid of using lethal & gruesome force.

Let the military (if one still exists) deal with the large zombie populations. You're going to have a hard enough time just keeping up with necessities for survival.

i'd descend into my premade nuclear shelter a la "blast from the past" with some external cameras on the surface to judge when to come back out. if they nuke the place? well them its time to wait it out in cryogenic statis a few hundred years until idiocracy hits, then be the smartest man alive. since we're talking in movie sense anyway.

Playing hero is stupid. To survive a war you must first realize that you are already dead. Of course, sending the "other" kind of dead to their Maker would be necessary.

Why hide the knives? You should keep them on the outside of your clothes for quick access. Zombies know no fear or suprise.

And people are less likely to fvck with you if you look like a badass with a bunch of steel strapped to you.

You never know when hidden weapons might come in handy... they're not for the zombies

Here's my plan:

Grab a small sidearm that uses common, widely-available 9mm ammo such as a Beretta 92S. Grab some heavier firepower later.

Get a small pickup truck or SUV. Something with 4WD and some off-road capability that doesn't use an obscene amount of fuel. Something with a snow plow on the front would be even better, but beggars can't be choosers. Load the vehicle you picked up with food supplies from a local supermarket, convenience store or other food store. Take the supplies to a secure site, preferably a warehouse.

A warehouse would probably be the best choice. Few windows, sturdy doors and overall sound structure... not to mention easy to secure and defend.

Once a base is secure, it's time to grab some heavier firepower:
- Remington 700 .280 Bolt-Action Rifle (to keep the zombies at a distance)
- Mossberg 500 Persuader (for CQC)
- Colt AR-15 (when stuff gets crazy and you need spray-and-pray)

Lastly, just hole up and wait for everything to blow over. If boredom ensues and all hope is lost, go have fun and kill some zombies.
