what happens if a ninja is the first zombie...

this is impossible b/c in order for someone to become a zombie they must die first. And everyone knows ninjas can't be killed. In fact I'm performed seppuku multi times just for fun.

here are a few plans.

1. Naked on a water tower. Have a large pigeon roost and some weapons. Be patient.

2. Gather friends and family fast. Gather all weapons and food. Retreat to the country where the population density will favor humans over zombies in battle.

3. Go insane and kamikaze them. Destroy and burn everything and don't stop until you win.

4. Get on a sailboat.

I would attach an angry pregnant woman to myself with glue. Even zombies will run from the hormonal effects of a pregnant woman.

As I've learned from watching TV, a shotgun can defeat almost any opponent, from undead zombies to demonic forces to the lord of evil himself.

If I saw it on the news?

Steps (in order):

- Lock the doors, close the drapes, turn out lights, kill all sound (television, radio, etc)

- Call family to check their status and give them a heads-up--a weak link (i know i know, they only slow you down!). Call to say goodbye, nothing more! You're on your own, mom and dad!

- Hit the bathroom, plug the tub and fill it up (will bottle it later with jars, bottles, cans, glasses around the house)

- Get my backpack out and fill it with: extra clothes, all the batteries in the house (including smoke detector ones!), grab the handheld radios and walkie-talkies, weapons

- Sort all the food I have in order from non-perishable downwards

- Pack what I can in my backpack

- Leave backpack at home and run up the street temporarily (without being noticed)

- Grab the shopping cart on my trailer trash neighbours lawn on the way up the road

- Crash the retirement home. Take all their food stocks--afterall, they eat lots of that canned non-perishable mush don't they? (and its not like they will survive the ordeal. i'm doing them a favour taking their food stores!)

- Gather back at home and sort the food into different piles.

- If the zombies haven't hit my street yet or aren't in sight i'll go and hide the food and survival kits around the property, and one in the house (attic)

- Put furniture in front of windows and make it secure to barricade in case i need to fall back to the position

- Grab the phonebook and map and take it with the backpack. Phonebook could come in handy not for the #s but the addresses along with the map--if i need to load up supplies.

- Head out at night wearing all black. Move with stealth on foot. Get far far far far from the city. Don't go near any roads--stay 100 feet or more away.

- Get into the trees far out in the country. Those big old growth trees that are sturdy as hell (a horde couldn't push it over).

- Split my gear into two: leave half in the trees and take half with in case I can't return (unlikely as its a far secluded tree area )

- Try to refill supplies in the local villages/towns

- Wait a few weeks living in the trees

- Using my communication gear I'll get in contact with those who were strong enough to survive (not earlier--don't want to attract weak links)

- Setup small communication networks and see the status of what remains

- Don't drop a single zombie until it is a threat to my life--no fun sniping from trees

- Locate food and supplies and hopefully live as long as I can

Flyback, how are you going to carry months worth of food + guns + phonebook + all these communication tools in a BACKPACK?

Dude the very fact we're talking about zombie attacks supposes that by this time we have invented food in pill form. DUH.

Additionally I'm not taking months worth. More like 2-4weeks worth.. I have a huge hiking backpack, BTW. And I'd be on reduced caloric intake--just enough to subsist.

Once I get to the trees (might take a few days after initial attack), I'll split the gear and head to the tiny rural villages to pillage what I can.

Remember folks, go for easy targets: OLD PEOPLE. Don't try and hit up the grocery stores or common places. Lots of old folks store canned goods because they were exposed to the depression of the 30s and vowed "never again" etc etc. Trust me, I think that lot of them do this

Push granny out the way and run that canned goods, foo!

Flyback's plan isn't too bad. Hitting the old-folks home is pretty original. There is a risk though that old-fogie homes would be the first to be overrun by zombies because of no one there to put up a fight. If you lived near one (like less than a mile or two), it could be a bonus place to hit and run.

Stealing an off-road capable motorcycle would be high on my medium-term plan list. My fear is that I'll get trapped by police and national guard blockades before I can make it out of the city. The FAA would shut down air traffic pretty quick, so the international airport a few miles away from me becomes useless.

Pawn shops are a good option. No food but plenty of guns and radios. Army-Navy store is a great option if you live near one. I have one about 3/4 of mile. I could hit it after the pawn shop or gun shop on my way to the motorcycle dealership.

As someone mentioned, you are going to be limited as to what you can reasonably take with you. (Unless you are driving a tank or stryker, in which case you can pretty much go wherever the heck you want.) Having the right survival supplies to last 3-4 weeks on a reduced calorie diet, and staying very quiet would improve your chances significantly. Flyback would probably find me living in a cave somewhere near his tree.

I would head to an arid or semi-arid region like the Arabian Peninsula, northern Africa, or the American Southwest. The dry conditions should mummify any shambling undead, and penetration into the heart of the area would be low. Just leisurely move around the desert 30-40 miles a day from oasis to oasis. I'd pick up camels along the way from a farm. Bicycles are fine if you have spare parts, but you can't eat them. I'd have a spear which works well for fighting while riding or on foot. A bow would be useful as well.

You need more options on your poll, and who's to say zombies can't learn to swim. I mean, they are undead after all, so theoretically they could just walk along the sea bed to your island without having to breathe.

I doubt they would sink all the way to the bottom. If they could sink to the bottom, lifeless bodies would never turn up on the sides or rivers or on the coast, they would always be at the bottom. I think we can assume the zombies wouldn't think of holding onto something heavy to keep them at the bottom.

EDIT: The poll is a kickback to a famous zombie movie

I would also think that zombies attempting to cross large bodies of water would get eaten by sharks.

This begs the question: If consumed by other living creatures, do zombies pass on their zombie essence to that creature? Does this mean that we would now have hordes of zombie sharks with no fear of invading land? We may have to rebuff our ddefenses for this contingency...

Finally, I would grab my stock of MREs and other survival gear and try to find fuel and propane, and pick up my friends. Then I would drive to a remote cabin in the Alaskan wilderness.

I would say that you're safe in Alaska. One person per 10 sq miles, right? That's relatively few zombies to deal with. I imagine it can get too cold for zombies. Most of them would freeze solid before they got anywhere (lack of brains, you know...)
