By saying the 360 isn't a quality machine, you are denying a lot of things. First of all, Sony is copying Microsoft on a TON of things when it comes to user interface and online playability. Microsoft is a company that came into the video game industry a LONG TIME after Sony and now Sony is the one copying them on everything.

And Microsoft copied a lot of things from Sony. Do we need list wars to prove this?

1. The PS3 is not double the price of the Xbox 360. Hardly anyone buys the 'arcade' version of the 360. 2. Selling 25% more units against a competitor is HUGE considering the brand name 'PlayStation' and all of the bad press on the RRoD. The 360 was the underdog in this fight from the start, there is no doubt about that.

The PS3 is double the price of the 360. A lot of people by the arcade is indicated by the jump in sales the 360 took when the Arcade dropped to $199.

The Wii is a video game machine for children. I had one for about a year, all I played on it was Wii Bowling. It is *NOT* a machine for gamers. Period. You really cant compare sales when the 360 is going after actual gamers while the Wii is going after the childrens parents.

Then why is Microsoft copying a bunch of stuff from the Wii like Avatars, the Rare games, and the rumored motion control scheme that will be reviled at E3?

You do know Microsoft owns rare right?

You are also saying that the only available option (and the majority of 360 owners) buy the Arcade version. That is simply not true at all. Not even close.

You also continue to ignore the brand name power of Playstation. It was the BEST SELLING CONSOLE OF ALL TIME. And its successor is doing horrible compared to its competition. The PlayStation brand is like the Wal-Mart brand of retail stores, and you cannot deny this.

The only bad PR sony got from the PS3 was its price. There hasn't been any other bad PR. Microsoft was slammed for its RRoD debacle (and rightly so). Yet, they are still consistently outselling the PS3.

Sony pretty much tried to copy everything Microsoft did right with Xbox live. 'Trophies' anyone?

Your comments about radio are just asinine. Everyone I know listens to radio at least once a week, if not a lot more. They also use their ipods and stream music at work.

You keep on trying to act like the Xbox 360 is a failure. Its not even close to one. Neither is the PS3. But you have to admit that Sony is scared shitless about what the Xbox 360 is doing to the future of their video games dept. Microsoft has done a very good job at creating a viable video games division in their company. Despite the RRoD, its still the best selling machine for gamers, not children.

I had FM radio on my Creative Nomad II back in 2000. Even back then I never used it.

HD Radio is considering just about CD quality - so yea, its gonna be pretty damn comparable to a lossless MP3 (lol@Apple lossless rips, as if they invented that and/or are the only ones to do it)

Except you have to wade through commercials, annoying DJs, and songs you don't want to hear.

Lots of people still do it - some people like the DJs, some people like the variety, and not all stations have tons of commercials. One that I listen to here in Seattle is listener-supported and has virtually no commercials at all.

To claim radio is dead or dying is absolutely foolish and you know it.

I'm playing Madworld on the Wii right now, he's right this is such a kiddie game. Especially the part where I chainsawed the dudes head off after sticking 3 sign posts threw his chest and neck.

Just because HD Radio isn't widespread yet doesn't mean it isn't a great feature that will gain momentum as more people experience it. Have you actually heard HD radio? Its worlds ahead of FM and even beats MP3 quality. Do you think HD TV wasn't important 10 years ago because not many people had it?

Radio is almost completely dead. You cannot compare HD radio to HD TV. It's more like comparing terrestrial TV to cable TV. HD radio is better quality than 320kbps VBR MP3 or even Apple Lossless CD rips?

Besides all that, it's not the quality of radio that's killing it, it's the inconvenience of it. Who wants to listen to music preselected by a DJ and sit through 25% commercials just to hear a song when you can stack your iPod/Zune/whatever will thousands of high-quality rips of *your* favorite songs, commercial and interruption free?

Any shred of credibility you may have retained is now gone.

Just like newspapers and other forms of "old media", radio is a declining industry.

We can argue that point all day. What really matters is that a FM/HD radio tuner is not going to the app that somehow allows the Zune to topple the iPod, or even put a dent in its dominance.

Nielsen Data Says so.

Maybe things have changed since I got rid of my Wii (Over a year ago). The only game that I was remotely interested in at the time was Super Mario Galaxy and Mario kart. The rest were games made strictly for kids.

I know you will point to the nintendo report that says (Found here) the average age of a Wii user is 29. But Nintendo obviously has a slant to make their numbers look different than someone @ Nielson. I am sure the elderly users of the system skew the results of their poll too. The Nielson one was done more recently too (Nintendo report - 2007, Nielson report - 2009)

There are about 20 different different music applications for the iTouch, including Pandora. This has all been running perfectly on 3G for what, a year now?

Just saying.

The iPod Touch doesn't do 3G. Just saying.

Err iPhone
I don't want to sign a contract for my digital media player. Let alone a $2000/2yr contract for it. Just saying.

it is only $720 (price of data plan) unless you don't own a cell phone at all

Depending on how much this costs with an HD dock, I may be in for one. I like how you can put your videos on it and use it as a lightweight HTPC.
Also, HD radio should be nice to listen to, and save me the need to buy a separate HD radio receiver for the car.

It might be hard to imagine, but think of people who don't want/need an iPhone and just want a DMP (read: most of the 260 million cell phone users in the US).

HD radio is nice but the amount of stations are lacking. I think Apple will have an answer by the time this feature is gonna mean anything. (Typical lifespan for an mp3 player for me is 1.5-2yrs)

OLED is great but at a res that is less than iphone/touch I don't see it as an upgrade. More of a sidegrade more than anything.

720p output I don't really care about at all.

I would look at the next iteration of the touch/iphone before committing to this.

I would say a good number would take an iphone over their current phone if

A. It cost them nothing to swap
B. It had no additional data fee

because I know alot of people I know get the best "free phone" they can get. I'd say a majority of those 260 million fall into that category and will admit that.

The way I look at it is alot of people balk at $720 for unlimited data ($30/month for 2 yrs) but will happily pay $480 ($20 a month) for unlimited texting

People balk at how much the iPhone data plan is, but fail at balking because any smart phone on AT&T will have the exact same charge. DAMN APPLE for making AT&T charge people the SAME they would pay for a Blackjack for data. Money grubbing assholes!

I don't text. I can't imagine even trying to text on the iPhone. When I was using it, while it certainly looked cool and had some cool functions, from a practicality/useability standpoint I can't imagine ever using it for more than just playing around. I need my Blackberry with a proper keyboard since I'm an e-mailer.

No, I said:

Yeah because the iPhone/iTouch were just incremental upgrades to the iPod line, and the Zune HD is *not* just a me too clone of the Touch with a bunch of shit nobody wants (HD radio, 720p out).

Again - you are incorrect to say no one wants HD radio. Just because people haven't shelled out hundreds of dollars to add the HD tuner to their car doesn't mean they don't want it. You are making my HDTV comparison more and more apt - you make debating with you easy!

What's your point? Most people would take a free Mercedes over their Honda.

In the smart-phone market, you'll find that Blackberry/Palm and other QWERTY users will NOT upgrade to an iPhone simply because of the lack of a keyboard. After years of touch-typing texts and e-mails, nobody wants to hunt-and-peck on a touchscreen.
