Howdy all,
I don't usually post anywhere but GH, but with the recent addition of the AnandTech FAQ, we need a simple, unobtrusive way to remind people to use it. The Search feature, also, is incredibly valuable but is still neglected by most newbies.
The answer is simple: a polite reminder message that appears in BOLD just above the "New Topic" posting form and directs you to the AnandTech Community FAQ or Forum Search function. It would only pop up after a person clicked "new topic", so it wouldn't clutter up the layout, yet it would reach every single person who posted a new message on the forum.
Something like:
"Save time and keystrokes: check the AnandTech Community FAQ and Forum Search engines for a wealth of frequently covered topics."
That's it. It wouldn't bother anyone because a polite reminder message that appears in BOLD just above the "New Topic" posting form and directs you to the AnandTech Community FAQ or Forum Search function. Something like:
"Save time and keystrokes: check the AnandTech Community FAQ and Forum Search engines for a wealth of frequently covered topics."
I can't imagine this would take very long to implement, and it would really improve the forum.
